International Year of the Periodic Table collecting project

The Science Museum Group is collecting material telling the story of the UN’s International Year of the Periodic Table (IYPT) in 2019. Our aim is to preserve for the future a record of the worldwide celebrations around the 150th anniversary of the periodic table.

We are looking for all kinds of material, from home-made periodic tables to printed ephemera relating to IYPT events.

We hope partner organisations and individuals will submit suggestions of items we could collect.

The submissions selected will form part of the Science Museum Group Collection alongside our world-class holdings in chemistry, which include:

As part of the permanent collection, the IYPT material will be available to future generations for exhibitions, education projects and historical research.

We may not be able to accept all offers due to volume, but we hope to collect a representative sample of the different types of activities and personal responses to the IYPT celebrations. If selected, we will contact you with further information on how to donate.
